Daily photo from Greenland
Greenland sledge dogs are usually scarred, fur sometimes bloody - not often their own, matted, oily… you get the picture. Stroke a sledge dog, and you’re going to need to detox your fingers. They are tough as nails and built for extremes.
I love ‘em.
But they can also be soft and cuddly. Never in a ‘just been down to the local pet parlor for a rinse’ kind of way. More of a ‘less smelly’ than normal sense. And when they sun hits just right, they are nigh on irresistible.
Like this battle-scarred fella in Qaanaaq, catching the first rays of the returned sun.
Cute, eh?
Irresistible?
Sure, but don’t pet him, you’ll lose your hand. ;-)
Bless!
