Daily photos from the Yukon
Really, we were very lucky on our 14 days or so down the Yukon. We saw more wildlife in those two weeks than during the two months we would spend on the Yukon in 2016. But then, it was just Jane and me, and canoes can be notoriously quiet, so we often caught animals by surprise, and were then treated to close-up experiences, before the moose, the bears, and whatever else we might meet, decided we really were too much, quite rude, and therefore best left alone.
As for our campsites, the river was quite low in 2014, and being big river rookies we camped on a lot of sandbars. Again, a couple of years later, we would discover that camping in the middle of the river wasn’t always the smartest thing to do, and especially not when there was heavy rain in the mountains.
And, as usual, in camp, Jane does all the work, figuring out where we are, while I take photos.
