Daily photo from Greenland
The month of June is all about the crazy clouds! What I also liked about June in Qaanaaq - which is way north, about 800 miles from the North Pole - was that the sea ice was still deciding if it was ready to leave, or if it wanted to hang around just a little longer.
I’ve mentioned it before, but the first supply ship of the year would come in late July, and the second, and last, would come in late August. The Americans might fly in from Pituffik Space Base with apples on a Huey once in a while, but otherwise that was it for supplies.
Those apples though… While expensive, over $1 per apple, they were also big, red, and juicy. They weren’t exactly tasty, but neither did they rot, as in ever. Each time we bought one I was reminded of the apple in the Disney Sleeping Beauty animation. And, sure, we had a hmmm moment, wondering about the size of the apple and the lack of a single blemish.
And then we bought a couple.
Every time.
Meanwhile…
I’m working somewhat feverishly on getting something uploaded and sent to some very, very patient Kickstarter backers. More news tomorrow. But here’s a sneak peak. ;-)
Yep. All done. Pushing ‘send’ on a lot of emails this evening. Bundles ahoy! It took some time as The Adventure of the Gallows Growler spiralled out of control, clocking in at 150 pages. Seems Petra isn’t the only one to ‘spiral’. :-)
Love the colorful houses…at least I’m assuming they are houses? All the houses on my street except mine are a version of beige. No joke.
(psssst! --- That was 'Snow White'!) 😊
