Daily photo from Greenland
I like this one. :-) Such a striking flag, and typical view of Greenland - mountains, snow, icebergs, and gaily painted houses.
I can’t quite remember where the flag was located, i.e. which house or building, but it flapped enticingly, begging to be photographed.
So I did.
And coming soon. Daily photos from the Yukon River!
On June 26, 2016, Jane and I, together with our friends Suzi and Lars, and their kids Tiuri and Liva, met in Frankfurt, Germany to board a plane bound for the Yukon River. We did this 10 years ago, and I want to celebrate what was an incredible experience in a part of the world that has shaped me in more ways than I can express, even before I arrived there.
To celebrate the expedition, I’m going to pause the Daily photo from Greenland and introduce a Daily photos from the Yukon River instead. The plan is to share photos from each day (2016) on the expedition, together with Jane’s brief trip notes, and additional thoughts from me ten years on.
I’ll keep the daily photos free for all to see, using my photos. Then, for paid subscribers, I’ll post a few more private photos taken by ‘us’ from other cameras, including many of Lars’ photos on a fancier camera than mine, plus photos and video from the drone we took with us.
I’ve tossed the idea of a book around many times, but for a number of reasons, it just never happened. So I’ll celebrate the anniversary with some new short stories, and other ‘stuff’ that might include some alternative ways to share the experience of the awesome Yukon River. More on that later.
That said, if there is sufficient interest, I would like to write ‘the book’. If that sounds like something you would be interested in, then you are welcome to show interest by signing up to be notified about a potential Yukon River book project here (no obligation to back it). If we hit 50 people I’ll get cracking. ;-)
The journey starts on June 15 in Horsens, Denmark, of all places.
Until then, here’s a teaser from the Daily photos from the Yukon River and the Yukon River Xtra sections.
There will be snippets of video too. ;-)
Hope to see you on June 15. :-)

I'm really looking forward to your illustrated River Travelogue! We just went kayaking this past weekend, so I'm in the mood! 😀. And YES - put me down as interested in a new book about 'The River'! Your WOLF triumvirate in Alaska (?) was great!
